Executive Director of the Photographic Resource Center Resigns.

Cathy England, President of the PRC's board, made the announcement in an emailed letter:

It is with regret that I report that Jim Fitts has resigned as Executive Director of the Photographic Resource Center, effective November 30. Jim was a longtime board member and has served as Executive Director for three years. We are grateful to Jim for his dedication to the PRC, his great enthusiasm for photography, and his creative touch with so many of our projects. Under his leadership the PRC sponsored a master lecture series with world class photographers; produced a portfolio edition of 17 distinguished artists which has been acquired by collectors and museums; founded the Behind the Scenes series of special events for members; and continued and refined our Annual Benefit Auctions and Portfolio Review Weekends. We wish Jim much luck as he pursues other directions in his career.

The PRC is currently seeking an Interim Executive Director. We are looking for candidates with experience running nonprofit organizations, preferably in the visual arts. A successful candidate should have strong fundraising skills and experience working with boards and donors. Applicants should send a cover letter and resume to prc@bu.edu.

We're pleased that the PRC remains in very good hands, with Jason Landry, Programs and Operations Manager, and Caleb Cole, Coordinator of Membership and Administration.

We have an exciting line up at the PRC this November including lectures by Keith Carter on Thursday, November 5th, the opening of the PRC's international photography exhibition, The Leopold Godowsky Jr. Color Photography Awards on Thursday, November 12th and a lecture with Roger Ballen on Wednesday, November 18th.

We hope to see you there.

It's also worth noting that the PRC's long-time curator, Leslie K. Brown, left last summer to pursue a PhD in Art History at Boston University.

Here's an interview with Fitts by the PRC's Jason Landry from Big RED & Shiny Issue #92.
